Halifax and Abbey National cut mortgage rates


The Halifax and Abbey National have announced a 0.1 per cent cut in their mortgage base rates.


The Halifax&#39s variable rate now stands at 6.85 per cent, while the Abbey National&#39s rate drops to 6.85 per cent for loans over £100,000. For borrowers with loans of £60,000 to £99,999, Abbey&#39s rate now stands at 6.9 per cent and for loans up to £59,999 it is 6.95 per cent.


Alliance & Leicester and Nationwide Building Society have not changed their rates as yet.
