Guide to Advice launches online financial website directory

Guide to Advice

Online financial services portal Guide to Advice has launched a directory for consumers seeking online financial information, guidance and advice.

The free service is available through and will give consumers information about 110 financial services websites.

The site contains critiques of online propositions and a scoring guide to help people decide if a particular site is suitable for their needs.

Consumers can search for sites based on product need, type of advice, service required and whether they can afford to pay fees or not.

Guide to Advice says all sites reviewed are independent and unbiased.

Websites will be listed free of charge although site owners can increase their presence on the site by paying for a full directory page.

Guide to Advice director Kim North says: “We want to help consumers raise their understanding of financial products and planning, whilst encouraging providers of guidance, advice or financial products to improve their online offerings.

”Our scoring and comment on the financial websites will help consumers make a more informed choice”.

  1. A great idea but it’s execution is a bit clunky because it doesn’t seem to understand that for an execution only site there is no advice so it’s a bit strange that it asks “how would you like to pay for advice?”

  2. Execution Only is not free, and I agree with Nick, the site is confusing advice and self select – nice idea, needs work to execute a better experiance

It is a little clunky, and technically inaccurate in a number of places that I’ve seen too.

And why can’t you click onto a provider’s name when it comes up in the search results and go straight to their website.

Feels like it needs a bit more testing and tweaking.
