GT backs attempt at round-world flight

GT Global is sponsoring a £260,000 bid to fly around the world in 80 days in a Microlight plane – the smallest and lightest aircraft ever to make the attempt.

Pilots Brian Milton, 55, and Keith Reynolds, 45, will fly over hazardous regions including the Saudi Arabian desert and Greenland during the flight, set to take off in March.

GT Global chief executive officer Paul Loach says: "The round-the-world flight is a pioneering trip. It is a brilliant allegory for the kind of business that we are. It has elements of risk to it as any investment strategy does but a controlled risk. It is a calculated risk, it is a well-understood risk."
