GRE prone to takeover according to analysts

Analysts are predicting that Guardian Royal Exchange could be the subject of takeover moves within the next six months.

Analysts say the firm, valued at about £3bn, is more attractive to predators following its moves to reorganise its life and pensions business with a capital injection of £300m.

It is also ditching its salesforce in favour of the IFA channel.

There is speculation that a takeover bid could come from Axa which wants to acquire a life office to gain a stronger UK presence.
