Government unleashing new pension ad campaign

The Department of Work and Pensions plans to embark on a second pension ad

drive before the end of the year.

The DWP says it will be similar to the working dogs campaign which ran on

national television and in cinemas in March this year. Stakeholder will be

promoted alongside occupational and state pensions as one of the retirement

options available to individuals.

But the industry will be urging the Government to spend its

multi-million-pound budget on raising awareness of employers&#39 obligations

to offer access to stakeholder from October instead of reiterating its

message to individuals.

Scottish Equitable pensions development manager Margaret Craig says: “It

might be a good idea to start the next campaign in the late summer which

might encourage employees to start asking questions about stakeholder in

time for October. Something has to be done to target employers and not just

individuals.”

A DWP spokesman says: “The business of raising awareness among employees

is a separate issue.”
