Goodwin quits as Suisse head of equities

Credit Suisse global head of equities Kim Goodwin has quit after less than two years.

She has returned to the US as a consultant, with head of European equities Cesar Perez taking on her role.

Perez becomes the third equity head at Credit Suisse in two years. Goodwin took on the role in October 2006 from Mark Burgess, who became executive vice-chairman and head of asset management for the Emea region before leaving the firm in April 2007.

Perez joined from M&G Investments in 2007, where he worked on the European desk. Before M&G, he was at JP Morgan Asset Management.

Credit Suisse head of asset management for Emea Gary Withers says: “Kim Goodwin has made a strong contribution at Credit Suisse, having overseen a turn-round of the equities business. She has brought significant additional talent into the business, instigated a strong functioning globally integrated multi-boutique approach and overseen significant increases in performance across our equity fund range.”

Managers recruited by Goodwin for the Credit Suisse team include multi-manager co-head Aidan Kearney and the income team led by Graham Ashby from Sarasin.

Withers says: “Kim came here to build a first-class team. She has done that. The next stage in the development of our equities business is being taken forward by the fund managers she was involved in recruiting.”

Can lenders offer better direct deals with a clear conscience?

In the last few months, I have read many points of view regarding the credit crunch and predictions that it will continue for anywhere between 12 and 36 months, depending on which so-called expert you listen to. Current conditions are making it extremely difficult for us brokers to survive and although diversifying is a good thing, for some it may be a bit late in the day.
