Gibbs moves from Charcol to boost Origen mortgages

Aegon UK’s IFA firm Origen has appointed Charcol head of London office Wayne Gibbs as its head of mortgages to complete its executive management team.

It is believed that Gibbs will be bringing a number of consultants from Charcol as part of a recruitment drive for Origen.

Gibbs will be responsible for developing Origen’s existing mortgage business. The five Origen brands have previously outsourced mortgage enquiries but Gibbs and his team will now be be able to offer in-house advice to existing clients.

Origen has picked Brian Lee, formerly of the Ogier Group, as its finance director. He was the chief executive and chief operating officer at the Jersey-based financial services business. His role will cover finance, regulatory and risk management for Origen.

Lee will be joined by ex-Chase de Vere marketing director Ritchie MacDon-ald who will develop the marketing function of Origen as the firm launches its new range of products and services for 2005.

New products include healthcare and mortgage propositions, a discretionary investment management proposition, an online Sipp and an Ssas proposition.

Origen chief executive Gareth Marr says: “Mortgages are a minefield if you do not understand them. Now our 150 RIs can answer any client’s mortgage questions.
