Jupiter Asset Management has appointed Miles Geldard as portfolio manager of the Jupiter Second Split trust.

Geldard, who will take up his role on 1 November 2013, is replacing Philip Gibbs who is retiring in October 2014.

Geldard is head of the fixed interest and multi-asset team as well as jointly managing the Jupiter Strategic Total Return fund, Jupiter Global Convertibles fund and Jupiter Strategic Reserve fund.

Jupiter Second Split chairman Gordon Campbell says: “We are pleased to welcome Miles as portfolio manager of the company. He has built a strong reputation for managing multi-asset portfolios and we look forward to working with him.”

Gibbs announced his retirement in July this year. James Clunie will become manager of Gibbs’ Jupiter Absolute Return fund with effect from 1 September 2013.

Gibbs joined Jupiter in 1997 and previously managed the Jupiter Financial Opportunities fund between June 1997 and June 2010, the Jupiter Split trust, which was Jupiter Second Split’s predecessor, and various institutional mandates.

The manager still plans to retire in October next year. Jupiter is currently discussing what his responsibilities will be after between handing over his funds and his retirement date.
