Gear up for big changes in pensions

Pension advisers will get the chance to quiz the experts on the future of the industry at this year&#39s Money Marketing Live conference and exhibition.

A pension panel debate, Gearing up for A-Day, will be a keynote feature of the conference, which will be held at Olympia, London, on May 6.

Panellists will include independent expert Ros Altmann, Informed Choice managing director Nick Bamford, Millfield Partnership pension specialist Graham Duckett and Clerical Medical head of intermediary planning David Shelton.

Discussing pension simplification, the panel will identify what impact it will have and the opportunities for the intermediary&#39s role.

Key figures from leading pension companies will give presentations in the Money Marketing Pensions Arena housed within the event. Speakers will include Legal & General&#39s pensions strategy director Adrian Boulding and Hornbuckle Mitchell managing director Neil Marsh, who will discuss which areas of pension planning advisers should be reviewing to ensure that they stay compliant after A-Day.

The importance of learning about A-Day is crucial. Legal & General&#39s head of pensions technical services Colin Batchelor says: “Even though A-Day for pension simplification has been postponed until 2006, the pace of change in the pension world is as fast as ever. It is essential for all those involved in pensions to keep up with the pace and the Pensions Arena provides a great forum to help achieve this.”

Professional Briefing managing director and Money Marketing columnist Keith Popplewell will also give a guide on how advisers can proactively benefit themselves and their clients by understanding the implications of imminent changes in the pensions world.

An added bonus this year will be a pre-recorded interview with the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Andrew Smith. Speaking exclusively to Money Marketing Live about the future of the industry, the interview will be screened at the event throughout the day.

With training sessions and workshops, Money Marketing Live will feature a total of over 50 key industry speakers and more than 100 exhibitors from across the financial services business.
