Gavin Barwell replaces Brandon Lewis as housing minister

Prime Minister Theresa May has made Gavin Barwell the new housing minister, replacing Brandon Lewis.

Barwell is now minister of state for housing and planning.

He is also minister for London at the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Lewis is now minister of state for policing and the fire service.

Lewis, a qualified barrister, was made housing minister in July 2014, with added responsibility for planning.

Barwell was elected as MP for Croydon Central in May 2010.

Lewis has been MP for Great Yarmouth since the same time.
