Gartmore warns of continued gilt/corporate debt divergence

The price difference between corporate and Government bonds has reached its highest level for ten years because of money injected into Government debt markets.


According to Gartmore&#39s October Investment Focus, AAA corporate bonds substantially underperformed Government bonds and corporate debt will continue to underperform until confidence is restored.


Gartmore says structural factors point to increased issues of corporate bonds in Europe and that the low level of Government bonds will be exacerbated by EMU.
