Gartmore poaches European equity analysis team from GAM

Gartmore has appointed John Bennett’s pan-European equity analysis team from GAM.

Asim Rahman and Christian Billinger will join as investment analysts and Eleanor Cameron as manager for dealing and operations from GAM.

They will report to John Bennett, Gartmore’s new senior portfolio manager for European equities who joins in January 2010 and it is anticipated they will also join at that time.

Bennett and his team will assume lead management responsibility for the Gartmore’s European selected opportunities and Sicav continental European funds.

He will also look to develop a range of Pan European products for the firm.
Upon Bennett joining, the fund’s current managers, Roger Guy and Guillaume Rambourg will concentrate on their list of alternative and institutional mandates.

These include three hedge funds, two recently launched European absolute return mutual funds, the Gartmore European investment trust and several institutional mandates.

Chief Investment Officer Dominic Rossi says: “We are delighted that John’s analyst team will be joining him at Gartmore. They have a proven team process and this will ensure a continuity of John’s highly successful investment approach when he arrives at Gartmore in the New Year.”
