Gadget of the fortnight: CarbonFin Outliner

Gadget of the week-Outliner-17Apr14

This week’s gizmo that can make business life a whole lot easier is another app I use on a daily basis. CarbonFin Outliner is a simple tool that lets you build an outline of anything in a logical and structured pattern.

Okay, the same functionality exists in Microsoft Word but I find the ability to access the app in seconds on my iPad, wherever I am, and jot down and organise any activity in an analytical manner invaluable. You can drag and drop different lines of text increasing or decreasing their hierarchy. These can also be shared in an online version for desktop editing.

It is a good way to organise thoughts on any subject, such as planning for a project or a meeting. Files can be exported using plain text or OMPL, a form of message for outlining. Export capability via email is not great but at £2.99 the app has paid for itself may times over each month ( iOS versions only available).

PricewaterhouseCoopers has published research into whether consumers are looking for advice on their pension following the radical shake-up announced in last month’s Budget […]

Out of Context: “We’ve had more housing ministers recently than Chelsea managers”

“How can there be any coherent policy to tackle the housing supply issue when we’ve had more housing ministers recently than Chelsea have had managers?” Paragon Mortgages CEO Nigel Terrington says housing ministers should not be churned with the same frequency as Premier League football managers. “It took him three years to die, the bastard.” […]
