FundsNetwork analyser throws light on with-profits

FundsNetwork launches its with-profits analyser tool this week, enabling advisers to access detailed reports on individual with-profits funds provided by Cazalet Consulting.

Advisers can use the tool to monitor any with-profits bond’s past performance, asset allocation, charges, expense ratios and spot guarantee dates.

They can also check whether a with-profits fund’s asset mix is still suitable for their clients and use a stochastic modelling tool to measure its future performance potential against client goals or even other investment funds in relation to meeting client aims.

Cazalet Consulting principal Ned Cazalet says the team sifted through over 30,000 pages of information to cover every with-profits bond contract in the UK market. He has written commentary on the bonus and performance outlook for each contract and this will be updated as soon as the fund announces any bonus change or corporate action.

Cazalet says: “With this tool, the with-profits black box becomes transparent. Advisers can use the analyser to advise on with-profits with confidence.”

FundsNetwork head David Dalton-Brown says advisers can use the analyser to provide compliant, individually tailored client reports. He says following the FSA’s insurance sector briefing on with-profits advice in May, advisers are under increasing pressure to review client holdings.

He says: “It is an industry first and is there to support advisers’ efforts to review legacy with-profits bonds assets in what is a £100bn market.”
