Fund supermarts will debate the future of advice at Sofa summit

Fund supermarket rivals Cofunds and Fidelity are set to go head to head in a debate at Sofa&#39s annual conference to be held on November 30 and December 1.

The conference to be held at the Hilton London Met ro pole, is hoping to attract more than 1,000 IFAs.

It is the first time that the event, which is sponsored by Money Marketing, is being held in London. The conference will include over 25 sessions split into three streams on each day.

Day one&#39s main feature will be a debate between Aifa director general Paul Smee and commercial director of the website sort.co.uk Ben Goss. The debate is entitled, The future is bright, the future is online.

The highlight of day two will be the discussion between Cofunds chief executive Sam Jensen and Fidelity UK sales director Robin Threadgold. It will also include Investec Asset Management managing director Jamie MacLeod. The session, entitled, The future of investment advice for IFAs, will be chaired by Money Marketing&#39s founding editor Roger Anderson.

Speakers at the smaller seminars will include Price Waterhouse Coopers partner John Whiting talking on life after IR35 and Winterthur Life pension strategy manager Mike Morrison on income drawdown.

Sofa press spokesman Robert Reid says: “It is an opportunity for advisers to really top up their knowledge over two-days. There are a lot of high-quality debates and technical detail.”
