FTSE breaks above 4,400

The FTSE 100 rose above the 4,400 barrier this morning ahead of the Bank of England’s announcement on interest rates at midday.

By 9.21am, the index was 0.4 per cent higher at 4,405 with banks regaining previous losses.

Royal Bank of Scotland was 3.6 per cent higher at 37.40p, Barclays was up 3.5 per cent at 268.75p and Lloyds Banking Group was 2.3 per cent higher at 67.50p.
