FSCS chief Loretta Minghella awarded OBE

The outgoing chief executive of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme Loretta Minghella has been awarded the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s New Year’s honours list.

Minghella has been awarded the OBE for services to the financial services industry.

In October Minghella announced that she would be stepping down from her position next spring after five years in the role.

She will leave the position at the end of February but will stay with the FSCS as special adviser to the board until the end of August.

  1. I wonder what this person has done outside the job she was handsomely paid to do that justified this ‘award’? It once again shows that this so called award system is a politicians toy they just love playing with!

Just how many IFAs have received any such award for doing their job of helping ordinary folk to eek a little more wealth out of their meagre earnings?

  2. Quite. Can’t be the hardest of jobs: add up all the firms gone bust; divide by the firms not gone bust (yet) = amount to be paid by each firm. Here’s your invoice. Good day.

  3. I worked with Ms Minghella many years ago when she was with SIB. I was a only temporary secretary working for another lawyer in her department, but she struck me as hardworking, incredibly smart, determined, kind and generous in nature. You may have a problem with the way the economy has gone, as do we all, but rest assured, this woman has earned her place in the world.
