FSCP welcomes draft mortgage rules

The Financial Services Consumer Panel has welcomed the publication of the FSA’s draft rules on mortgage regulation.

The panel says it is pleased to see the FSA demonstrating its commitment to ensuring borrowers receive the right information before they buy, but is critical of the Treasury’s decision not to regulate mortgage advice.

It also says it believes the FSA should be given responsibility for monitoring advice while agreeing lenders should ensure intermediaries provide information at the correct time.
