FSA consumer panel slams Treasury

The Financial Services Consumer Panel has blasted the Treasury for destroying the FSA&#39s chance to overhaul existing financial services rules.

It accuses the Treasury of not giving the FSA enough time to conduct a fundamental review of the current rules by setting an unrealistic timetable for the regulator to go live. The panel wants a wide-ranging review to investigate the implications of new technology, European legislation and the development of benchmark products.
