FSA announces RDR roadshows

The FSA is running a series of nationwide RDR roadshows to help firms prepare their businesses ahead of January 2013.

The half day roadshows begin in April and are aimed at investment advisers from small firms.

The regulator says that now the RDR rules have been published covering the key areas of adviser charging, advice labelling and professional standards, the sessions will set out what the new rules mean in practice.

Places are limited to one person per firm and cost £20.

Advisers can choose either a morning or afternoon session, with the roadshows visiting the following areas:

  • London – April 5 and 6
  • Newport – May 5
  • Nottingham – May 10
  • Glasgow – May 18
  • Belfast – May 19
  • Southampton – May 25
  • Bolton – June 14 an 15
  • Slough – June 21 and 22
  • Newcastle – June 29
  • Leeds – July 6 and 7
  • London – July 18 and 19

  1. Don’t agree / turn up!

SIMPLES – They might get the message then!

Would show them what a load of half baked ideas RDR is as a principle of giving ordinary clients (not super rich only) much needed Financial Advice!

  2. Might have been a good idea to have run these two years ago as part of their “consultation process”.
Shall not bother, I have a very good idea of what the “NEW rules will mean in practice”. ………..they will be changed for some more new rules! again and again and again……

  3. Have they contracted in someone who might know them?

I wonder if it will be the same script at the first and last one?

  4. A budget of half a billion pounds a year, a wildly skewed Cost:Benefit Analysis, a catalogue of huge regulatory failures to its name and the FSA has the gall to charge £20 for those who wish to attend their roadshows!! You gotta hand it to these guys ~ they really know how to take the piss.
