Friends Provident slashes jobs

Friends Provident is expected to make numerous redundancies in the wake of its announcement to combine its Manchester head office with its Spring Gardens office.

The firm is to begin a consultation period with employees who work mainly in customer services, IT and other head office functions. The number of people that will be made redundant over the next year will not be known until the employee consultation period is complete.

It will vacate the Manchester Express Building where 465 staff work by December 31, 2009.

Friends Provident UK managing director Simon Clamp says: “We remain committed to the service that we provide our customers, clients and partners and will take every step to ensure that there will be minimal disruption to our business”.
