Friends Provident International announces new board

Friends Provident International has restructured its board in a shake-up that sees Charles Fargher appointed chairman.

Fargher has been a non-executive director of Friends Provident since 2002 and was chairman of the audit and compliance committee.

Paul Tunnicliffe has also been appointed managing director. As director of international operations Tunnicliffe was responsible for all operations in the UK and the Isle of Man.

The restructuring of the board comes after managing director Paul Quirk resigned last year. The company says the change in positions was timed to occur after Friend’s Provident’s strategic review had taken place.

In other movements, non-executive director Emer Daly is replacing Fargher as chairperson of the audit and compliance committee. Her responsibilities outside of FPIL include chairperson of the Audit Committee of Eirgrid, Ireland’s electricity network operator.

Jonathan Hall is taking up the new position of general manager on the Isle of Man. Brendan Harper is replacing Hall as company secretary.

Friends Provident International managing director Paul Tunnicliffe says: “These appointments come after our strategic review confirmed that international is one of the core focuses of the Friends Provident business.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jonathan for his support as acting MD. He has done a sterling job and this left me in no doubt that he should be appointed as general manager, for the Isle of Man business.”
