Jones resigned from the provider on Wednesday and is to take up the role of head of protection at LV=, though the provider could not confirm a start date.
A Friends spokeswoman says: “Mark has been offered a new role and has decided to accept it so he is on gardening leave with immediate effect. We are looking for a replacement now.
“We wish Mark well in his new role.”
Friends Provident head of protection sales Ed Stuart-Brown will oversee Jones’ role until a replacement has been found.
A LV= spokesman says: “Hiring someone like Mark is consistent with our expanding position as a leading protection provider.
