Friends Life has appointed David Hynam as UK chief executive as part of a reshuffle which will see corporate affairs and brand director Peter Foster leave the provider at the end of the year.
Hynam will be responsible for the provider’s ‘go to market’ business and will report to group chief executive Andy Briggs.
Hynam was previously chief operating officer at Friends Life.
Foster has been at Friends Life since November 2011. Prior to this he was head of European marketing at Aegon Asset Management, now known as Kames Capital.
He has also previously held senior marketing roles at Zurich and Prudential.
A Friends Life spokesman says Foster now plans to set up a watch business.
Hargreaves Lansdown head of advice Danny Cox says: “Friends Life has clearly gone through a period of significant change in the past year. It is important they have someone in charge of the UK business who can steady the ship and make sure it is focused on serving its customers.”
The reorganisation follows a period of significant change at Friends Life.
In August 2011, Resolution set out proposals to split Friends Life into two separately listed businesses. In March, it announced the two businesses will be completely separated by early 2014, to ensure they could be sold off separately via IPOs.
In August this year, Resolution announced it is scrapping the IPO plans and will instead combine the boards of Friends Life and Resolution.
