Friends hires merger specialist as director

Friends Provident has appoin-ted former Deloitte & Touche merger integration specialist Belinda Richards as an independent director of Friends Provident Holdings and Friends Provident Group.

The company has also appointed Karl Sternberg as an independent director.

Richards is currently a vicechairman of Deloitte & Touche, where she was a senior corporate finance partner for 10 years. She was global head of merger integration and separation advisory services before retiring from the role earlier this month.

Sternberg is currently a non-executive director at JP Morgan Income & Growth Trust and Whitbread Pension Trustees and has held a number of chief investment officer posts at Morgan Grenfell/ Deutsche Asset Management.

He is a founding partner of Oxford Investment Partners and a director of Lowland Investment Company.

Friends Provident Holdings chairman Sir Malcolm Will- iamson says: “Their proven track record and experience will be invaluable to Friends Provident and the execution of Resolution’s consolidation strategy for the life industry.”
