Friends director joins Sesame board

Sesame Bankhall Group has appointed Resolution Operations founding partner Jim Newman to its board as a non-executive director.

Newman joined the Friends Life group executive committee last year. He has previously held roles as group finance director for Resolution and group integration director for Aviva.

He is also a non-executive director of IG Group.

The appointment is subject to FCA approval.

Sesame Bankhall Group chairman John Cowan says: “Given SBG’s evolution into a broad-based financial services group, and my more hands on role in the business, this is an ideal opportunity to increase and strengthen our team of non-executive directors. Jim will be an excellent addition to the SBG board.

“We look forward to benefiting from his financial expertise and strategic input, as the business continues to develop its wide range of valuable services.”

Newman adds: “SBG has made great strides in reshaping its business and I am looking forward to working closely with the group’s strong management team to help build on these solid foundations and take the business forward.”
