Freedom message behind ABN ads Unum backs disabled

ABN Amro is running an ad campaign to publicise its Pep transfer facility and high- light its involvement in the UK equity market.

The campaign, designed by ad agency Radiate Design, starts this month in the financial trade and consumer press and will initially run until the end of August.

ABN says the aim is to illustrate the flexibility and freedom of Peps. The focus is on single-company Peps which can now be transferred into unit trusts.

A TV ad shows stocks used to hold prisoners in historical times with a broken padlock. The strapline is: Stock restrictions lifted.

ABN says this concept promotes the fact that investors are no longer tied into their Peps following the harmonisation of rules governing Peps and Isa investments on April 6.

The idea of freedom has already been used to launch ABN&#39s UK select opportunities fund, which showed a trail of footprints going off in an alternative direction.

The company says this was designed to highlight fund manager Nigel Thomas&#39s stockpicking process.

ABN believes this concept lends itself well to other ads which will be produced at specific times during the financial year.

Marketing director Tracy O&#39Neill says: “The philosophy held by Nigel Thomas about stockpicking is shared by the whole team and this is being publicised by the ads in the financial press.”
