Franklin Templeton fixed income group hires research director

Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Sonal Desai, as director of research for its fixed income group international bond department.

Desai will help guide research efforts for the international bond department and provide the fixed income research team with macroeconomic analysis.

She joins from Thames River Capital in London where she was a member of the global credit team responsible for shaping the team’s top-down global view on macroeconomic and market developments.

Based in California, she will report to senior vice president, portfolio manager and co-director Michael Hasenstab.

Hasenstab says: “We remain committed to adding resources to support our continued growth in this asset class, and we are very excited that Sonal joined our team. She brings a strong background to this newly-created position, and is a valuable addition to our global fixed income team.”
