Fortis to ramp up IFA distribution through networks and nationals

Fortis Life has pledged to drive up distribution through networks and national IFAs as it posted its half year results.

Fortis reported that its non-life pre-tax profits dropped 26 per cent from £43m in the first half of last year to £32m for the first of 2009, although the life business has not been trading long enough to report year on year figures.

Fortis new annual premiums for the life business which launched in July 2008 reached £6.4m the end of June.

Fortis Life says it has made inroads with a number of specialist IFAs such as Click and Lifesearch, but is now looking to bolster distribution focusing on larger networks and national firms.

Fortis has also announced that it has appointed Kurt De Schepper as chief risk officer and Antonio Cano chief executive of insurance.
