Smith says: “Our priority is to retail this product progressively to a wider range of IFAs and to other channels. We are very pleased with the way the first few weeks have gone but we have got a long way to go.”
He says providers looking to move into the protection market must have a clear proposition.
Smith says: “They must give some reason why the inf-luencers should select that entrant rather then an exis-ting player within that market. The key is be very trans- parent and for IFAs to be well trained on what the product is and what variants are suitable for each customer.”
Fortis UK made a £43.3m profit in the first half of 2008, up from £19m in the same period last year.
