Fortis seals £312m deal with Artemis

Belgium bank Fortis has taken sole shareholding position of Artemis, increasing its 67.1 per cent stake in the business.

Fortis has announced its £317.2m deal with Artemis after its management shareholders agreed to a contractual arrangement with the Belgium bank.

ABN AMRO held a majority interest in Artemis since 2002 until being transferred to Fortis in 2008.

Artemis managing director Richard Turpin says: “Fortis has advised us of its
desire to explore strategic options for its investment in Artemis. This
process may lead to the transfer of Fortis’ shareholding in Artemis to a
third party.

“We are fully supportive of this endeavour, provided that the
importance of management continuity and the unique culture and investment
style is recognised and maintained in order to preserve Artemis as a leading
asset management business in the UK. We will keep you fully informed of
developments in this regard in due course.”
