Former ABI director handed senior FCA savings and distribution role

Former Association of British Insurers director Maggie Craig has been named interim head of department for savings, investments and distribution at the FCA.

Last month the regulator promoted David Geale – who previously held the head of department role – to director of policy. Head of specialist supervision Nausicaa Delfas and head of general insurance and protection Simon Green were also handed director positions.

At the time, the FCA said it would be up to the new directors to decide whether to appoint new heads of department within their respective divisions.

An FCA spokesman confirms Craig, who has led the regulator’s policy work in designing the “guidance guarantee” framework, has been made head of department on an interim basis.

The spokesman says: “Maggie is acting as the head of department for savings, investments and distribution. It is not permanent role, she is simply stepping up to the plate to take responsibility on an interim basis.”
