Foreign & Colonial Pacific investment trust has benefited from the

positive performance of the Japanese stockmarket and the recovery in Asia.

Its net asset value per share increased by 77.4 per cent to 242.3p,

against the benchmark FT/S&P Japan and the MSCI AC Asia Pacific excluding

Japan indices which rose by 56.7 per cent. The trust&#39s share price has

increased by 95 per cent to 204.3p form 104.8p in the year to January 31.

The trust&#39s Japanese portfolio is heavily weighted towards new Japan

stocks which have had a bumper year. Funds focusing on companies reaping

the benefits of reform, restructuring and recovery in the economy topped

the charts last year. The trust&#39s board says it will continue to focus on

blue-chip companies which it believes will deliver
significant profit

growth as the recovery grows in the rest of the Asian region.
