Fidelity to offer online financial tuition

Fidelity Investments has teamed up with e-learning specialists, Wide Learning, to offer online financial training.

The site www.fidelity.co.uk will offer Wide Learning Quicksights ™ – five minute multi-media introductions to financial products and concepts.

Plans to build a "learning centre" where customers would be able to access Quicksights™ and enrol on one of Wide Learning’s full courses has also been announced.

Fidelity, the world’s largest independent fund management organisation, says the site will help customers make informed decisions on what can be a bewildering range of complex financial choices.

Senior manager of UK media relations for Fidelity Investments Jo Roddan says: "This is part of the FundsNetwork (corr) site which is officially launched to IFAs on July 17. We wanted to cover all investors from the first-time to the more sophisticated investor who wants to look at things like wealth management. The IFA can sit with their client click on the section called "Why Invest?" (corr) and educate their client on the basic principles of investing.

"We linked up with Wide Learning as they offer very good basic tutorials on the principals of investing."

Wide Learning, which was set up in 1997 by financial media and technology professionals, is one of the largest e-learning companies in the world. The tutorials accessed via Fidelity are free.

Content of the site will be developed by ex-City practitioners and financial training tutors.
