Fidelity appoints head of public policy

Fidelity International has appointed Philip Warland as head of public policy.

Warland’s responsibilities include keeping contact with policy makers in the UK and EU, as well as managing contact with stakeholders concerning financial services policy in much of Europe.

Warland worked at the Bank of England for over 20 years prior to becoming the Association of Unit Trusts and Investment Fund’s director general. Warland also worked as a senior adviser in the investment management practice of PwC in London and Brussels.

Fidelity International European business president, Robert Higginbotham says: “As we approach a new phase in the regulation of financial products we believe that it is critical that the interests of the consumer are at the heart of the policy maker’s agenda. Philip has the extensive experience and detailed industry knowledge to ensure that Fidelity engages successfully with the key stakeholders and decision makers who determine UK and EU policy for medium to long term savings.”
