F&C lifestyle funds launch with Zurich

F&C is adding four risk-rated lifestyle multi-manager funds to the Zurich product platform.

The lifestyle defensive, lifestyle cautious, lifestyle balanced and lifestyle growth funds will be available through the Zurich retail pension, sterling bond and sterling investment account and Isa products.

The funds are designed to match the core asset allocation models generated by dynamic planner, an independent risk profiling tool. Advisers allocate an appropriate risk profile to their client and choose the relevant lifestyle fund for the portfolio. This is regularly rebased to ensure that the underlying asset allocation is suitable for the investor’s profile and objectives.

F&C director of business development Barry Neilson says: “Zurich has an extensive and widely used product range in the UK and it is therefore an important milestone for the Lifestyle funds to establish a presence on the platform.”

Cost controls

Much has been written about the move that most advisers are taking towards servicing models and passive incomes and the challenges that manufacturers face regarding balance sheet erosion due to distribution cost. The generally accepted solution is a product with less initial and increased trail commission but this is in danger of creating problems as great as those it is designed to serve. I am talking about the cost of providing this solution to the consumer in this new model way of working.
