F&C joins climate change club

F&C is the latest fund company to launch a climate change investment fundThe global climate opportunities fund, which follows recent launches by Schroders and Jupiter, will seek companies that are innovating to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, whether through technology, products or services.

The fund will tap into nine investment themes under three guidelines of mitigation, adaptation and supporting services.

Mitigation includes areas such as alternative energy and waste while adaptation looks at firms focusing on acclimatising to the environment. Supporting services covers areas such as carbon trading and consultancy.

Sophie Horsfall and Terry Coles will co-manage the fund, assisted by the governance and sustainable investment team.

Horsfall says: “Climate change is going to have a revolutionary impact on the global economy and our fund will offer investors significant growth potential by picking companies who harness the opportunities from this change.”
