Carne joins from Crosby Forsyth on July 7 and will report to head of multi-manager Dean Cheeseman. He will work on both the quantative and risk analysis process the group has through its traffic light screening.
F&C was hit hard in April this year when its head of multi-manager Richard Philbin departed for Mike Kellard’s new Axa multi-manager firm.
Carne began his career in 1999 as an investment analyst at Morgan Stanley Quilter.
Cheeseman says: “Paul and I have successfully worked together for almost eight years and so I know he will fit in well with Joanna and I at F&C. He will bring real strength and depth to the F&C multi-manager team, particularly in terms of upgrading the quantitative and risk analysis capabilities which underpins F&C’s Traffic Light Analysis fund screening process. We continue to make excellent progress towards a further hire and these appointments underline F&C’s commitment to further growing its multi-manager business.”
