Exclusives return to market

Growing numbers of lenders are offering exclusive deals through intermediaries, says London & Country mortgage specialist Richard Morea.

He says London & Country has a number of exclusives in the pipeline following discussions with lenders. He says: “This is good news for the market. There was a time when lenders did not want to even talk about exclus- ive products. The market is now a bit more settled and lenders’ appetites are slowly returning.”

Morea says Accord, Scottish Widows, Intelligent Finance and Stroud & Swindon Building Society are some of the lenders offering exclusive products through London & Country.

This week has seen Halifax launch an exclusive two-year fixed rate at 6.34 per cent with Premier Mortgage Service. The rate is available for remortgages, first-time buyers and homemovers up to 80 per cent loan to value.

Alexander Hall chief operating officer Andy Pratt says: “In general, we are seeing some rates coming down. A little bit of competition is appearing. There are a lot fewer exclusives than there were before but the situation is improving a bit.”
