Ex-Scottish Re chief to be Pearl Life MD

Former Scottish Re International chief executive officer David Huntley has been appointed the new managing director of Pearl Life.

Huntley left Scottish Re in 2006 after three years as chief executive. He was heading the international operation when the US arm’s sub-prime exposure began affecting the group’s credit rating. He has been consulting and business coaching since leaving the reinsurer.

Before Scottish Re, Huntley was chief executive officer of Swiss Re Life and Health Australia and technical and operations director of Swiss Re Life and Health in the UK.

Pearl’s acquisition of Resolution went through in May after months of negotiating. Pearl Life looks after closed business from a cross-section of the market, including pensions, protection, with-profits and endowments.

Le Beau Visage managing director Peter Le Beau says: “David is a very competent guy with experience in the UK and Australia. He is very innovative, which is quite unusual for an actuary. I wish him every success.”
