Ex-Pru DSF boss sets up consultancy for IFAs

Former Prudential sales director John Prout is setting up a new

consultancy aimed at IFAs advising small to medium-size companies and

high-net-worth individuals.

Charterhouse Consulting will offer equity stakes to firms which sign

up for its services which it says will eventually provide IFAs with a

complete range of services for SME clients.

The services would extend beyond traditional IFA areas to advice on

anything from accessing Government grant programmes to how to deal

with senior management development.

The consultancy says it has an extensive network of contacts with

access to an expert on virtually every topic of concern to small

businesses. It believes there is a gap for firms targeting the SME or

HNW markets.

Prout was the last direct-selling boss at the Pru before it axed its

salesforce in February 2001. He is launching the consultancy with

IFAs Clive Edwards of Charterhouse IFA and Danny Marshall of DM

Associates.

Prout says the new venture will not compete with networks but will

work alongside them. It has signed a deal with Bankhall to supply

services to its members and is looking for similar deals.

He says: “We will build the new brand, adding a range of client

services well beyond that of supporting pure financial planning.

Products designed for IFA members will focus very much on

lead-generation, business development and facilitating a broad range

of services to core client groups.”
