Ex-HBOS chief Phil Jenks joins Exact board

Former HBOS chief operating officer Phil Jenks has joined the board of mortgage asset manager Exact.

Jenks will be a non-executive director overseeing corporate governance and chairman of Exact’s risk committee.

He retired from HBOS in 2008 after 36 years at the bank, rising through the ranks after first joining a branch of Halifax Building Society in 1972.

Jenks joins former HBOS colleagues Alan Cleary and John Nixon at Exact

Cleary was Halifax director of intermediaries before he left to set up Edeus and is now managing director of Exact, while Nixon was previously BM Solutions director of mortgage operations and The Mortgage Business director of new business. He is now chief operating officer at Exact.

Exact chief executive officer Ian Lonergan says: “I and the rest of the executive team are absolutely delighted that Phil has decided to take up the position.

“His experience in the UK mortgage market is unrivalled and given our ambitious plans for the future we intend to keep him very busy.”

Phil Jenks adds: “I am immensely impressed at how the team at Exact have adapted to a very challenging market, they have not only been innovative in bringing new and exciting products to the mortgage market but they have also built a state of the art intelligent mortgage servicing platform.

“I look forward to working closely with the team on its next phase of development.”
