Ex-FCA boss Clive Adamson to join Prudential

Former FCA director of supervision Clive Adamson is set to join PrudentialCity AM reports.

The newspaper suggests Adamson could be set to take up a role as a non-executive director at the insurer.

Adamson left the regulator in December ahead of the Davis inquiry into a bungled briefing given to the Daily Telegraph which led to insurers’ share prices tumbling in expectation of an investigation into high charging pensions.

The report revealed a catalogue of errors at the regulator.

Giving evidence to the Treasury select committee following the publication of the report, Adamson said: “This almost certainly was the most serious incident we’ve encountered in the FCA. I agree, one can only speculate about what might have happened if we had brought together people early, but it still took until 2.27pm to get the announcement out and I think we all regret that.”

Prudential’s full-year results are due tomorrow.

  1. It just goes to show that these big providers and the like want influence rather than competence.

Left under a cloud ~ handily lined with 6 months fully paid gardening leave at our expense and, so the FCA would have us believe, entirely coincidental with its mishandling of its closed book review. I’ve mentioned this story to a couple of clients and they’ve been appalled. But, it seems, the FCA’s smug lack of accountability is equalled by its lack of shame.

  3. I guess even failed regulator’s have to pay the school; fees. Let’s hope that he is watched closely to ensure that no harm comes to this proud company

  4. I can only second Andrew Jones’ comments.

  5. From now on !

Public sector to private sector…..will never work!

  7. *weeb-clünp* *weeb-clünp* *weeb-clünp* *weeb-clünp* Hark, it’s the sound of the revolving door.

  8. Adamson took one for the team. He wasn’t even central to the issue.

Hardly surprising he gets a nice sinecure somewhere. I have a long list of these folk and where they went; gives huge ammunition to conspiracy theorists.

Certainly amounts to cronyism if nothing else

  9. Non-executive director = Give us your input, insight and experience but let someone else bake the cakes

  10. & Caroline Rookes has just got a pot at NEST as a NED!

  11. Just keep him away from journalists !!
