European stocks fall on weak China trade data


European markets made losses on Friday on the back of weak Chinese trade data.

At close, the FTSE 100 was down 0.1 per cent to stand at 5847.11 at close. The German Dax and the French Cac 40 fell 0.3 and 0.6 per cent respectively, while in Spain, the Madrid IBEX fell 0.9 per cent.

China said Friday that the country’s exports grew just 1 per cent in July from a year earlier while import growth slowed to 4.7 per cent.

Markets also fell in the US with the Dow Jones down 0.2 per cent and the Nasdaq down 0.3 per cent at 17.10 BST.
