English Mutual aims to grow into national brand

IFA English Mutual Wealth Management, which launched in August, says it aims to become a leading brand with 120 advisers by next year and 200 by 2005.

The Worcester firm was formed from Alex Morley & Co IFA, which was set up in 1997 with a focus on high-net-worth and corporate clients. It aims to build a national name in the IFA sector and develop relationships with accountants and solicitors.

English Mutual&#39s advisers are all self-employed, operating under its brand and using its admin services including compliance and marketing.

It says this allows individuals to move smoothly from direct and tied salesforce backgrounds without the cost and approval delays associated with going independent.

As well as former salespeople, English Mutual is hoping to attract existing IFAs wanting to spend more time advising clients and less time on admin and graduates wanting to enter the industry.

It is also encouraging IFAs nearing retirement to join English Mutual, which will gradually take over their client bank.

Business development director Alex Morley says: “English Mutual aims to become a leading national IFA group offering clear and secure career paths for its advisers and support staff.”
