Endowment complaints to Financial Ombudsman Service triple

The Financial Ombudsman Service has seen complaints over endowment mortgages triple in the past year.

The regulator received more than 9,300 shortfall and misselling complaints in the year to this March, up from the 3,100 cases it dealt with last year.

It currently receives up to 300 complaints each week and predicts it will handle almost 13,000 this year, expecting to uphold around a half of all cases.
