Ellis on the move to Axa as Choudhury becomes MD

Henderson Global Investors head of UK retail Simon Ellis is

joining Axa Investment Managers, taking over from Julia Choudhury, who has been promoted to managing director.

Ellis, who has been with Henderson for 13 years, six years in his current position, will become Axa IM&#39s head of retail, responsible for its multi-manager business and retail funds.

He will take a seat on Axa IM&#39s UK senior management committee when he joins in the first quarter of next year after his three-month notice with Henderson period expires.

Choudhury, who will be the company&#39s first managing director, will be responsible for corporate strategy and marketing, working closely with chief executive Nicolas Moreau.

She joined Axa IM in 1997 after eight years with Barclays Global Investors and, with Ellis, is the last senior management appointment following Axa IM&#39s recent recruitment of Paul Griffiths as chief investment officer.

Griffiths replaces Roy Gibson, who left in Dec-ember 2002, joining in January from Investec, where he led the investment process on fixed-income products.

Moreau says: “Combined with Julia&#39s appointment, we have created an important new role within the company. The senior management team is now complete and we intend to make a major impact in 2004 with respect to new business development.”

Ellis says: “Julia hands over a well-run and rapidly growing retail business and I am looking forward to working with the team to take Axa IM to the next stage in its development.”
