Ehrmann to take on Jupiter’s new China fund

Philip Ehrmann is set to join Jupiter’s Far East desk as manager of the group’s new China fund in October.

Ehrmann has 16 years experience in emerging markets and for the last six years has headed up Pacific and emerging markets at Gartmore.

He also managed the group’s Pacific opportunities and China opportunities funds as well as a hedge fund and institutional business.

Ehrmann left Gartmore last month after the Latin American and Pacific and emerging markets desks were merged under Chris Palmer following the £500m management buyout supported by private equity firm Hellman and Friedman.

Jupiter Asset Management joint chief executive Edward Bonham Carter says: “The emerging economies of Asia and in particular China are exerting an increasing influence over the global economy and we are delighted to have attracted Philip to work with Simon Somerville and Ben Surtees on the Far East desk.”
