EFM widens portfolio fund choice

Edinburgh Fund Managers is increasing the fund choice available through its Classic Portfolio Service with the addition of its monthly income and fund of funds portfolios.

The addition of the new funds to the CPS, which EFM describes as a discretionary-style global portfolio management service, brings the total available to four.

The company says the service is aimed at investors wanting capital growth through a globally diversified portfolio within a medium-risk to low-risk environment.

The CPS has a minimum investment of £25,000. It offers an Isa option, monthly withdrawals and phased investment facilities, a quarterly newsletter and an invitation to EFM&#39s annual investment seminar.

The two funds which are already part of the service are the managed growth portfolio and the performance portfolio.

EFM claims that its monthly income portfolio has produced a return of 20 per cent since its launch in June 2000 compared with -2 per cent from its peers in the UK equity & bond income sector. The fund holds between 60 and 75 per cent in bonds and the remainder in equities.

The fund of funds portfolio invests in a range of 28 funds from managers such as ABN Amro, Gartmore and Fidelity.

The initial charge is 5 per cent with an annual management charge of 1.5 per cent. Commission is 3 per cent with 0.5 per cent trail.

Marketing director Marianne Cantley says: “The service spreads the risk of investment across a diverse portfolio from the UK&#39s leading investment brands. It is like having a personal investment shopper for an IFA&#39s most valued clients.”
