Edinburgh Fund Managers aims to spread investment risk with the global growth portfolio. Global growth is a unit trust that has been targeted at experienced investors looking for a balanced risk investment. The unit trust will aim to provide long term growth. The fund will invest in a spread of 20 unit trusts and open-ended investment companies, divided into three areas of investment. First there is the global thematic sector, which will include funds such as Aberdeen global champions, Framlington new leaders and Sarasin Equisar. Second is the specialist sector, which will include funds such as SocGen technology, Edinburgh financial and Fidelity consumer industries. The third area is the country/geographical sector, which will include funds such as Deutsche UK blue chip, Gartmore European selected opportunities and Putnam growth and income (US value). This is Edinburghs first global fund of funds, although it does have two other global funds. According to Standard & Poors the Edinburgh global equity fund is ranked 66 out of 128 funds, based on £1,000 invested on a bid to bid basis with gross income reinvested over three years to January 22, 2001.
